A note from Leo — July 2026
This thread has answered booking questions for almost a decade, and I still read every comment. A few pointers to save you some scrolling:
1. Comparing booking services? I wrote an honest breakdown of how they all actually work — fees, success rates, what a ¥10,000 concierge really buys: Best Reservation Sites for Sushi in Tokyo
2. Headed to Kyoto? The kaiseki edition is here, updated for 2026 — every restaurant on it actually accepts bookings: Kaiseki in Kyoto: 20 Restaurants You Can Actually Book
3. Want a table secured? My service TableEX calls restaurants in Japanese and confirms your seats — flat fee, the restaurant's own prices:table-ex.com
4. For the seats nobody can book — the Sugita/Saito tier — there's Omakase ConciergeOmakase Concierge: tell me your dates, budget and taste, and I personally choose and secure a counter where the meal exceeds the price. Seat guaranteed, ¥5,000 per guest: Omakase Concierge
Questions are still welcome below and I answer them all — though these days the fastest way to reach me about a specific booking is through TableEX's request form. Either way, you'll get an honest answer. — Leo
